EstoniaA water safety day was held in Pärnu ahead of the swimming season, organized by the Rescue Board. The event was attended by 200 children, who gained practical experience in both rescuing drowning victims and calling for emergency assistance.
According to the Rescue Board, there is a concerning trend: parents talk to their children about water safety less and less frequently. For this reason, such practical training days are considered particularly important – children need to know how to behave safely in water and what to do if someone is in trouble.
Event participants had the chance to experience realistic rescue scenarios and learn when and how to call 112. Instructors also explained to the children why they should never swim alone and what hazardous situations should be avoided.
Pärnu is one of Estonia's most popular summer holiday destinations, attracting thousands of visitors each year. The start of the swimming season inevitably brings increased risks, which is why the Rescue Board considers prevention work among the population particularly important.
