West Rescue Centre receives new mobile command vehicle

The West Rescue Centre has acquired a specialized command vehicle tailored to the needs of Estonia's rescue service. The vehicle is designed to manage complex and long-duration rescue operations and contains communications and decision-making infrastructure. Unlike a standard fire-fighting vehicle, it does not need to be positioned at the incident scene but functions as a mobile command centre.

Estonia

The West Rescue Centre has enhanced its equipment with a new specialized command vehicle, custom-built according to the needs of Estonia's rescue service. The vehicle has been delivered to the rescue personnel and is designed to support complex and long-duration rescue operations.

Mobile command centre

The red vehicle is not a standard fire-fighting truck; it is a mobile command post that brings together incident management, communications, and decision-making to save lives and protect property. The command vehicle's major advantage is that it does not need to be positioned directly in the thick of the incident scene, but can be located at a safe distance while maintaining complete situational awareness of the operation.

Why is this important?

Resource-intensive rescue operations, such as major fires, storm damage recovery, or extensive search and rescue efforts, require well-coordinated management. The command vehicle gives the West Rescue Centre the capability to conduct such operations more efficiently than before, as all management and communications functions are consolidated into one mobile unit.
