Valery Zalužnyi, former commander-in-chief of Ukraine's armed forces and current ambassador to the UK, made a visit to Kyiv where he discussed changes in British domestic politics. According to Ukrainian publication Ukrainska Pravda, his potential presidential candidacy in Ukraine was also raised at the meetings.

Zalužnyi's trip to Kyiv was prompted by the resignation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, whose subsequent political developments the ambassador presented to Ukrainian officials. However, the discussions were not limited solely to British politics; Zalužnyi's own future plans were reportedly also touched upon.

Zalužnyi remains a highly popular military figure in Ukraine, having commanded the country's armed forces during the initial years of Russia's full-scale invasion. In early 2024, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy removed him from the position of commander-in-chief and appointed him ambassador to London. Since then, his name has been mentioned with increasing frequency in the Ukrainian political context.
